I would not say this was a good day. I seem to be pretty blah. The weather was wonderful again and again I did not fish. I read some on the deck. I slept a long while. Perhaps I have a cold coming as I had a bout when I was very cold this morning.

I had a fine talk with Robin who seems pretty good except for an infected finger. He won't play poker tomorrow. The peanut feeder is working for his birds there and he seemed pleased with that. It was a good long talk and I enjoyed it.

I made a fire on the deck and read some there at twilight. I read some more of the Bryson but was just not in the mode for his trashing. After he trashed Vegas, the largest redwood in California and Yosemite in just three pages, I just closed the book and gave him up for good. I am done with him.
Even WC Fields seems a friendly sort after reading the Bryson. And yet at times Bryson was funny and appealing.

Well, those times are gone.

Southern Gaming magazine came with some information on some of the casinos I might see coming back from Florida through Louisiana and Mississippi next March.

Albany University magazine came with an article celebrating William Kennedy's Writer's Institute. I have not gone down for any lectures in a long while. None of those between now and my leaving caught my interest. It is a grand idea, however, and 25 years old. He started it before he had the money from Ironweed to pump into it. I had not known that. It must be satisfying to have started such a fine program.

William Kennedy lives just down the road, but I never see him. Strange really to live so close and be so distant, but then at the parties I used to attend I never really seemed to capture his interest.

Cory called still excited about his new job.

I got a fine note from Charlie, the Chuckmonk of Flourgarden Crapshoot in my links section. He says he has not blogged in a while. Too bad, as his note was rich in bluefish fishing and a bicycle ride to Walden Pond and other adventures calling to be written up. He is a great gardener and bread maker. Read some of his older posts and drop him a comment if you can. Perhaps that will motivate him to post again.

Wrote a bit on electronic gaming tables and El Cortez on discussion boards and wrote a reply to one of my former students who sent me pictures of extremist Muslims and tried to link them with Barak Obama. Sad, really.

Well, that is all there is today. Tomorrow is dentist, lunch with Bruce S. and a good game of poker. Sorry Robin will miss this one.
