Finally, we are on water again

We rented the pontoon boat today and took a fine ride up to the springhead and then to the island where the blue herons nest.
I was fine to be on the water again.  There were dozens of manatee in the waters and we saw them quite well, coming and going, a few with little ones following.  We did not try to swim today, but it would have been hard to swim and not see manatee.

Along with them we saw nesting osprey on the signposts.  They let us get very close as they are not shy of boats because they see them everyday.
Pelicans were everywhere and so fun to watch.
Ann Marie got a good look at a red shoulder hawk, and we saw about fifty turkey vultures circling in the area we always find them.
Even in the afteroon the heron were on the island in their nests and I managed to circle the island although the water was as low as it ever gets and the marina warned us to be careful.

Margaritaville, the old Greek restaurant on the water has burned down, but there were BBQ signs at the old Seagrass and folks were out eating on tables, so something is happening there.  I like being able to access a little eatery by boat.

The day was cold in the morning, but by afternoon we could be in tee shirts and the sun was very hot.

In the morning Ann Marie and I had gone to the Cowboy flea market.  I found a couple dollar Tee shirts that will work well to save my good shirts when I am eating at home.  I bought 5 whisky glasses for a dollar.  I also bought a dozen of the fish head drink holders as I liked the ones I bought last week. I bought a salt and pepper set with a lobster on it.  And I got 13 ruby red grapefuit for the price of 12 and well below the prices in Sweetbay market.  Each grapefruit was a dollar as opposed to $1.29. And then one was free.  Ann Marie bought a little bag and a book.  So we were delighted.

FIRST GLASSES

Well, I have my first pair of real glasses.  Up until now I have just used dollar store reading glasses.  Now I have bifocals, distance and reading.  I think they will help on my distance viewing, help on signs on the road, and television. Television tonight looked much better. They are so new I can't tell, but at least I am giving them a try.  I've procrastinated this since June.

Ann Marie cooked tonight.  Sweet potatoes, baked pork loin, and this great and simple recipe of red cabbage cooked with granny smith apples. It will become a standard in my house from now on.  It was really delicious and no spices were used.  I think it would work very well in the slow cooker.

So, it has been another fine day here in Florida.

I'm beginning to think that you have net received my last couple of comments. Maybe I got the word verification wrong. I wanted to tell you how happy I am that you are back on the water. I know how much you enjoy it. Your description was beautiful and I could picture everything along the way. It would be great if Kaylyn could enjoy a ride on the boat while she is with us. She is crazy about manatees and it would be such a thrill for her to be able to swim among them. She will be with us at the Weekin Wachee house from the 15th through the 18th and will be driving to Orlando on the afternoon of the 19th. I know you all have a busy social schedule so do't know if that will work out. If not, we are hoping that she will come for a visit when she gets a day off in March. 10 days and counting. Can't wait!

If you don't see your post here within a day, post again or send it to me via email and I'll post it for you.
I have not heard from you in a while.

I can't see any problem with all of us going to see the Manatee on 16-17-18 whether we are unpacked or not. I look forward to it. However, the manatee are there somedays and not others, so prepare her for the gamble.
