I slept well and woke up pain free. The swimming helped.
I tuned in WRPI and listened to the Saturday morning bluegrass music. Great stuff.
Here are the lyrics to one of the songs I heard:
Five Pounds of Possum
My children are hungry, my dog needs a bone.
I'm out of a job now, so I'm just drivin' home.
An hour after sundown, when what to my delight,
There's five pounds of possum in my headlights tonight.
CHORUS:
There's five pounds of possum in my headlights tonight.
If I can just run him over, every thing will be all right.
We'll have some possum gravy, oh what a beautiful sight;
There's five pounds of possum in my headlights tonight.
Won't have to clean no chicken, won't have to open no cans.
Just a little bit closer, and I'll have him in my hands.
I think the time has come now, to go from "dim" to "bright."
There's five pounds of possum in my headlights tonight.
CHORUS
Then I listened to Ray Smith and his blues again.
I wrote to Robin and to Gordon Brooks as well. We figured out how to print on Elizabeth's printer. That was just fine. Neither of these guys have a working computer, so I liked having a more efficient way to write to them both.
I read around a bit and noticed that Japanese green tea is made differently than Chinese green tea, so I'll be looking for a source of Japanese unfermented green tea. I can't order anything by mail here now as I can't be certain that we will be here long enough to get it and the forwarding is really ridiculous.
"The trick with green teas is the way it's preserved, so that the polyphenols are not destroyed, by the fermentation. Japanese green tea is not fermented, but Chinese green tea is and therein lies the main difference in its active health properties and efficacy."
My otther reading seems to indicate that all green tea is green because it is not fermented, so I am confused. We should be going to the Manatee Festival today. I hope we can find some tea there, or at least some of that good pepper mix I like.
I read a bit more in the Faulkner, but it keeps getting darker. I should have known that it would depress me as it went along. Still, I expect to finish it and then pick up something less depressing. Maybe I'll reread some George Burns.
I took the bike out and went up and down the street a bit to begin to develop some stamina. I am truly out of shape. I think we need to be here in December. I came home from Vegas in much better shape with all the walking. Then I got sedentary again.
